Terminal 5 at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) is one of the airport’s busiest domestic terminals and primarily handles American Airlines, JetBlue and selected additional airline operations. Strategically located in the center of the LAX horseshoe loop, Terminal 5 plays an important role in domestic travel, transcontinental routes and passenger connections.
Although older than some of the newest terminals at LAX, Terminal 5 has received several modernization upgrades over the years, improving passenger circulation, seating areas, shopping facilities and dining options.

History of Terminal 5
Terminal 5 originally opened in 1962 during the expansion of LAX’s Jet Age terminal complex. Over the decades, it hosted multiple major domestic airlines and gradually evolved into an important part of American Airlines’ LAX operations.
Several renovation projects modernized the terminal with upgraded gate areas, improved passenger seating, new dining concepts and refreshed security facilities.
